Sustainably thought out

When organizing events, we consider not only the needs of exhibitors and organizers but also those of the planet. In order to improve the footprint of our services, we work hand in hand with our service partners and thus contribute to the most resource-efficient realization of trade fair appearances.

As a subsidiary of NürnbergMesse and part of the ServicePartner network, we focus on resource-saving solutions for live communication - for example through modular, reusable components and flexible room concepts. Together with NürnbergMesse and other ServicePartners, we are continuously working on sustainable events for our customers and the industry.

Travel and accommodations

We want you to come to us relaxed and environmentally friendly at the same time.

NürnbergMesse is optimally connected to the long-distance travel network. The “U1” line connects the exhibition grounds directly with Nuremberg Central Station.

With the Deutsche Bahn event ticket, you can travel to the trade fair at a reduced price. All journeys on local and long-distance services within Germany are CO2-free thanks to 100% green electricity.

On our hotel booking page, we mark hotels that participate in sustainability initiatives or promote their own sustainability projects.

Charging stations for your e-car

There are currently 104 charging points (AC) spread over five areas for charging electric vehicles on the exhibition grounds. In addition, the innovative Audi charging hub with its reservable fast charging points (DC) expands the options for charging your electric vehicle.

NürnbergMesse will increase the number of charging points to over 200 by 2025.

Stand construction

As part of our range of services, our ServicePartners offer sustainable stand construction solutions that minimize the consumption or raw materials and enable environmentally friendly trade fair appearances.

The modular stand construction components from our ServicePartners are particularly stable and durable and can be used several times. This reduces the consumption of raw materials and significantly lowers CO2 emissions compared to disposable stands.

Our service partners use sustainable materials for stand construction and furniture. A high recycling rate ensures the lowest possible environmental impact.

Our ServicePartners rely on short transportation routes and store stand construction components directly on site and in areas around Nuremberg. This not only reduces CO2 emissions, but also ensures fast and reliable provision for your trade fair presentation.

Our service partners for sustainable stand construction solutions

Our subsidiary Holtmann+, a full-service provider and exhibition stand constructor, has made sustainability a matter of course and integrated it into the entire value chain - from the conception and implementation of communication formats to workshops and events.

Stand builder Wörnlein is also driving sustainability forward. For example, the company processes sorted components and ensures sustainable production in its own joinery - with standardized processes and energy-efficient technologies.

Catering

With the “Naturlieben Küche” concept, our caterer not only stands for high-quality food. It also contributes to a more sustainable use of resources and promotes social integration.

Our catering focuses on freshness and sustainability from the region. The food comes primarily from local farms - with mainly seasonal and organically grown produce.

Our catering uses reusable crockery and, where this is not possible, alternatives made from renewable, degradable raw materials. Through needs-based planning and the use of 100% green electricity, we also optimize our ecological footprint in the catering area.

We rely on an effective recycling system by collecting food waste and having it disposed of by a specialist company, while recyclable organic waste is processed in an organic waste gas plant. We also donate returnable bottles to various organizations to make a positive contribution to the community and support the recycling cycle.

Our trade fair caterer

Sustainability is a matter close to the heart of our subsidiary Lehrieder Catering. In 2011, Lehrieder was one of the first caterers to receive Green Globe certification. In 2023, the company was named “Caterer of the Year 2023” in the ‘Sustainability’ category by the trade magazine “Cooking + Catering inside”. With around 120 employees from over 20 nations, Lehrieder is also committed to recognizing and valuing diversity in the workplace by signing the Diversity Charter.

Energy

Since 2015, we at NürnbergMesse have been successfully pursuing the goal of reducing the energy consumption of the company and the events at the exhibition center with our “energy offensive”.

Since 2020, we have been offering our exhibitors and guest organizers exclusively certified green electricity - for environmentally friendly energy at stands and events.

By gradually converting our site and hall lighting to energy-saving LED lights, we have already been able to save several million kWh of electricity and therefore also CO2.

We have been producing our own solar power since 2023. Our total of 13.826 solar modules (status 2024) on our hall roofs generate green electricity over a total area of 75,000 square meters. This makes us more independent and sustainable in our electricity consumption.

Bavaria's most powerful photovoltaic system

At 20 megawatt peak, Bavaria's most powerful photovoltaic system with Bavarian participation is being built on the roofs of NürnbergMesse. On a sunny day, we could produce enough energy to charge 400,000 smartphones for a year. We can temporarily store the solar power we generate ourselves with a 7.7 MWh battery storage system made from used car batteries and use it even when the sun is not shining.

Smart communication

We want to use intelligent solutions to conserve resources and make our communication more efficient.

With our digital trade fair logistics system, we have developed an intelligent call-off system that enables us to reduce congestion around our site. This applies to all vehicles that arrive for loading and unloading.
We are reducing event-related signage on the grounds and are increasingly relying on the “myLocation” digital navigation and information system.

We want to save more and more resources with our digital tickets. This also applies to our recyclable exhibitor and visitor badges. These are only printed individually on site and in black and white. This means they can be used equally by all events.

Cleaning and recycling

The topic of waste recovery and recycling plays a central role during our events.

In cooperation with our partner "Ressourcen Werk Nürnberg", we sort all waste generated during construction, operation and dismantling and feed it into the recycling process. The sorting rate here is 99,8% (data from the year 2023).

In cooperation with PFANDNETZWERK, we use all returnable bottles for the recycling cycle. 100% of the proceeds from the deposit bottles are donated to Straßenkreuzer e.V.

Where possible, our service partners use cleaning agents made from biodegradable substances, thus minimizing chemical pollution.
